The Shining Light Community Development Organization (SLCDO) is a locally registered social welfare organization with 501C3 status in the U.S.A and charitable status in the U.K. All gifts are tax-deductible. The SLCDO relies fully on the generous support of international and national donors to continue to provide much needed education, training and development services in the Northern Areas of Pakistan.

Each year through their generous support, SLCDO donors bring urgently needed programs, services and equipment to families and communities in Northern Pakistan. Our current most urgent needs include:

Operational and equipment funds for the Shining Light Academy
Operational funds for the Shining Light Coaching Center
Funds to purchase equipment for the manufacturing facility at the Women’s Vocational Training Center
Funds for Shining Light Educational Scholarships for children and youth from impoverished families. Currently:

$275 are needed to cover admission and monthly tuition fees at a local primary school, uniform and book expenses, and tutoring support for one primary-age child for one year.
$575 are needed to cover admission and monthly tuition fees at a local high school, uniform and book expenses, and tutoring support for one high school-age youth for one year.

The SLCDO currently leases the property where the Shining Light Academy and Children’s Coaching Center are located. The SLCDO would like to purchase land in Gilgit to establish a permanent presence in the city, and to ensure that building and land improvements that the SLCDO takes on will benefit students for many years to come.

Each member of the Ray of Hope Club will receive a hand-made thank you card from a child benefiting from the support of the SLCDO and email updates on how your support is making a difference.

The work of the SLCDO is made possible largely by national and international volunteers who generously give of their time and expertise to bring education, training and development to children and families in Northern Pakistan.
